Belgian Betting Round 6: Standard to finally be breached
Each week, BeNeFoot will bring you some interesting bets as the season progresses. Here are our top three picks for this weekend.
KV Kortrijk to score against Standard Liège @ 1.75 (7/10)
Standard Liège are enjoying a fantastic start to the season. They’ve won their first five matches of the season without conceding a goal. This side are certainly title contenders but they don’t play as well as their results might suggest. As we said in one of our earlier betting columns, Hein Vanhaezebrouck has been able to add some cutting edge up front for Kortrijk. In Croatian Ivan Santini, who has five goals to his name already this season and Teddy Chevalier, they have some good striking options who can threaten the goal of Eiji Kawashima.
Zulte Waregem – RSC Anderlecht: Both teams to score: YES @ 1.62 (7/10)
Zulte Waregem always give their best against Anderlecht with their title tussle last year intensifying the rivalry between the two sides. As such, the players will have no problem getting themselves up for the occasion despite a midweek trip to Cyprus. Anderlecht are scoring for fun so far with eighteen goals from just five matches. Acheampong and Suarez showed last week how easy scoring goals can be. When you throw Massimo Bruno, who has five goals to his name thus far, into the mix, then their firepower is irresistible and that’s without their new record signing Aleksandar Mitrovic! However, they haven’t exactly been watertight at the back as Lokeren and Charleroi have shown, which makes this a good bet. Essevee will have to make do without Mbaye Leye for the rest of the campaign but Jens Naessens and Habib Habibou will be confident of filling the void.
Lokeren – KV Oostende Over 2.5 goals @ 1.70 (6/10)
Lokeren are doing well this season so far but they did suffer a blip last week in Leuven. Their new signing, Hans Vanaken from Lommel United, is already having a major impact for his new team. Lokeren scored already twelve goals this season but also conceded nine goals in five games. KV Oostende have also conceded nine goals in five matches but scored only three. The coastal club have this week signed Jonathan Wilmet, Fernando Canesin and Jordan Lukaku in order to make a real splash in the Pro League this season but avoiding the drop will be their first priority. Peter Maes will not accept a repeat of Lokeren’s sloppiness last week and wants his side to be on the front foot from the off. Goals are to be expected!
