Belgian Betting Round 7: Expect goals in Genk

Each week, BeNeFoot will bring you some interesting bets as the season progresses. Here are our top three picks for this weekend.

OH Leuven – Sporting Charleroi X2 @ 1.65

Charleroi have already shown this season that they have a competitive squad. They have a strong midfield and in Pollet they have one of the most underestimated strikers in the league. The major worry for former White Star coach Felice Mazzu is that his defence is the leakiest in the top flight having conceded twelve goals thus far. That’s also the reason why they’re down in thirteenth but they should still be capable of taking something back home from the trip to Leuven. Both sides have five points so far this season and with Charleroi’s attacking firepower, they should always be in the game, especially against the lesser sides. One word of caution, however, OHL did win at home to Lokeren but 1.65 or 13/20 are good odds with two results on your side.

KRC Genk – Zulte Waregem Over 2.5 goals @ 1.60

Racing Genk have had a reasonable start to the campaign so far but as during last season, are unable to turn their superiority in games into enough victories to challenge right at the very top end of the table. Jelle Vossen will be back sooner than anticipated and once their record signing Mboyo has fully settled in, Genk should be a tough customer for any opposition defence. Zulte Waregem for their part have shown that even without Delaplace (Lille) and Berrier playing a central role, they can still mix it with the big guns. Junior Malanda and Thorgan Hazard have continued from where they left off last season. This game should be the pick of the bunch this weekend in the Jupiler Pro League. I can’t imagine this match finishing 0-0.

Mons – Waasland-Beveren X2 @ 1.75

Mons have had a very difficult start to the season and are bottom of the league. Coach Enzo Scifo has been frustrated in the transfer market and isn’t yet sure of his best eleven. He is trying to remain calm and he believes there’s a good deal more to come from his side. Waasland-Beveren’s performances have improved of late but they have been unlucky at times. Anderlecht were flattered by their 3-0 win over W-B and Club Brugge’s win had something of a “smash and grab” about it. Although coach is missing the impressive Aboubacar Oumarou through suspension, Mons at odds against does not appeal given their travails so stick with W-B, again with two results on your side.
