Belgian Betting Round 8: Lokeren eyes Standard’s scalp

Each week, BeNeFoot will bring you some interesting bets as the season progresses. Here are our top three picks for this weekend.

Standard Liège – KSC Lokeren X2 @ 2.16 (7/10)

If there is one team in the Belgian competition who have Standard Liège’s number, it’s Lokeren. Peter Maes and his boys are having a very good start of the season with Hamdi Harbaoui, Jordan Remacle and Hans Vanaken linking up very well. Lokeren already shown against Anderlecht this season that they are a match for any side . Standard Liège won their first seven matches of the season without really playing their best game. Nonetheless, with the midweek defeat against Esbjerg still in mind, Standard will have to improve if they want to win against this Lokeren team. Guy Luzon, coach of Standard Liège, will have to show how good he really is. Peter Maes should be capable of taking at least one point back home with their recent form.

Anderlecht to score O1.5 goals against Club Brugge @ 2.02 (5/10)

Anderlecht started their Champions League adventure this week against Benfica. We saw again that there is still a big gap between Anderlecht and the big clubs in Europe, yet some tactical changes could have shown us a totally different match. This weekend Anderlecht plays the “Clasico” against their biggest rival Club Brugge. Earlier in the week, Club Brugge sacked their Spanish coach, Juan Carlos Garrido, due to their exit in the Europa League and poor performance in Jupiler Pro League matches, despite accruing a good number of points. Anderlecht won in the same situation last season 6-1  following Leekens’ hasty exit from Brugge,  but this was in Brussels.. Aleksandar Mitrovic and Matias Suarez have already shown that they’re always good for some goals in the Jupiler Pro League and a partnership should continue to blossom. Anderlecht have scored already 26 goals in 7 matches this season.

Lierse SK – KV Kortrijk O2.5 goals @ 1.95 (5/10)

Both sides leaked goals in the early stages of the competition. This weekend the three points are very important for Lierse if they want to stay out the danger zone. Kortrijk need a win if they want to keep Play Off I teams in their sight. Unlike last season, Kortrijk have improved a lot in front of goal, mainly thanks to the arrivals of Santini and Raman. Lierse has found it difficult to score so far but they really need a win this weekend. Hernan Losada will need to stand up and lead his team to their second victory of the season.  We should see some goals if the rain doesn’t damage the pitch too much.
