EXCLUSIVE: Club Brugge set to steal Anderlecht’s talented Jason Eyenga Lokilo
As originally reported by BeNeFoot, several European clubs have shown an interest in and made contact with Anderlecht’s talented midfielder Jason Eyenga Lokilo. However, the youngster could set to provide a shock to Belgian youth football and join Anderlecht’s biggest rivals Club Brugge.
Anderlecht and the youngster, who turns 16 in September, couldn’t agree terms for a contract. The player’s representatives want to have a long-term plan for him but one individual at Anderlecht is against it or at least doesn’t believe in the qualities of the Belgian youngster.
“Club Brugge believe in the qualities of Jason and offered us a good package. A good project where everybody believes in,” one of Lokilo’s representatives told BeNeFoot.
A lot of big European clubs, especially Liverpool, want to sign the young attacking midfielder but don’t want to have problems with the Belgian champions and have chosen to wait until this issue is cleared up. Jason is still officially a youth player of Anderlecht.
According to Jason’s entourage, Anderlecht are doing everything to prevent him from joining any big club in Europe. “It’s a shame that because of one individual Jason career has been put on hold,” one of his family members said.
“We hope we can find an agreement with Anderlecht so Jason can join another club and concentrate on playing football again. We even hoped Jason could stay at Anderlecht but things went too far and I don’t think there’s a way back now.”
This could be the first talented player that moves from Anderlecht to Club Brugge at that age. Club Brugge have tried to sign hot prospects from their rivals before, having approached goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski and the club’s latest revelation Leander Dendoncker.
