Feyenoord – Vitesse LIVE on BeNeFoot

[liveblog]

Hello, I am Peter McVitie (@PeterMcVitie) with today’s minute-by-minute report on the bumper clash between Feyenoord and Vitesse. These sides are looking to narrow the gap with current league leaders Ajax, who drew 1-1 with Heerenveen on Driday night, and further enhance their chances of finishing second in the Eredivisie to secure a place in next season’s Champions League qualifying round.

The last meeting between the two title contenders took place in Arnhem and finished 1-0 to Vitesse, courtesy of Wilfried Bony’s 90th minute backheel. The Ivorian machine, who has scored 30 goals in 27 league games this season, is not in the team today as he suffered an injury in training midweek. Bony’s absence, coupled with that of 20-year-old Marco van Ginkel, is a big loss for Vitesse, to whom the partnership Daddy Cool and the dynamic midfielder is key.

Feyenoord, on the other hand, are going through a rough period, they haven’t been playing very well in recent weeks and saw their title challenge come to a grinding halt last week when they drew 1-1 with RKC, despite going 1-0 up in the first 15 minutes.

Critical to Ronald Koeman side is Graziano Pelle, who has scored 23 goals in the league this season.
