Welcome to our live coverage of Round 9 of Play-Off 1 in Belgium. After a dramatic series of games in the play-offs, Standard and Genk fell by the wayside last weekend with defeats to Club Brugge and Anderlecht respectively. Last season’s top two are joined by Zulte Waregem, who came from 2-0 down in Lokeren to take all three points.

Last night Eden Hazard watched on in the stands as Chelsea beat Benfica in the final of the Europa League. Tonight, his younger brother Thorgan will play a central role in one of Europe’s most gripping and long-running title races – that of Belgium.

Thorgan Hazard’s Zulte Waregem enter the final furlong of the play-offs in the knowledge that should they beat Club Brugge at home tonight and win in Anderlecht on Sunday – easier said than done – they will be the biggest outsiders to win the Pro League since Lierse back in 1997 and such a feat would even rank higher than Montpellier’s Ligue 1 triumph twelve months ago. Anderlecht are the favourites, especially after that crucial away win in Genk courtesy of Demy De Zeeuw’s winning goal.

If Anderlecht win tonight and Zulte Waregem draw with Club Brugge, les Mauve et Blanc will retain the title. If Zulte Waregem and Anderlecht both win, the two will fight it out in Brussels on Sunday. Suffice to say that if both Anderlecht and Club win, it will also go down to the last day with Blauw Zwart hosting Genk.
