PSV – Ajax LIVE on BeNeFoot

[liveblog]

Hello there, Michiel Jongsma here (@JongsmaJongsma) with our first Eredivisie minute-by-minute report. It’s a biggie, this game, with 2nd placed (before this round) PSV Eindhoven facing league leaders Ajax in the Philips-stadium. There’s a three point gap between the two and with Vitesse and Feyenoord still in the mix this game won’t decide the title race, but it sure is the most important game of the season until now. No surprises in the line-ups, PSV will start with Boy Waterman in goal, with Hutchinson, Derijck, Marcelo and Willems (right to left) in front of him. The duo of Van Bommel (captain) and Strootman will battle it out in midfield and Wijnaldum, Toivonen and Mertens are occupying the attacking midfield positions. Jeremain Lens is the striker. It leaves Tim Matavz on the bench. The Slovenian striker has netted 10 in the competition already.

Ajax have Jasper Cillesen in goal due to Vermeers suspension. Van Rhijn, Alderweireld, Moisander and Blind are the defenders. Poulsen will occupy the controlling midfielder-role with Eriksen and captain Siem De Jong in front of him. Fischer plays off the left, Sigurdsson leads the line and Schone is on the right.

It promises to be quite the battle. Vitesse dropped points against Roda JC yesterday (3-3) and e they’re in second now, one point above PSV and trailing Ajax by two. Feyenoord is still playing RKC Waalwijk and with the current score (1-1), Ajax would go five points clear of their competition if they win. PSV meanwhile can grab top spot with a win and will be looking to seize on Vitesse’s and possibly Feyenoords ‘failure’.
